On November 24, the trial run of the Padma Bridge Rail Link project in Bangladesh was successfully completed.
The Padma Bridge Rail Link spans a total length of 162.5 kilometers, comprising 20 stations and 20 sections. The line starts in Dhaka, the capital city, crosses the Padma Multipurpose Bridge, and ends in Bhanga. The trial train, independently developed and manufactured by CREC, was specifically designed to suit Bangladesh’s broad-gauge railway system and consists of 13 linked carriages.
At 9:10 a.m. that day, the train departed from Dhaka Station, reached the Padma Multipurpose Bridge in just 50 minutes, and arrived at Bhanga Terminal 2 hours and 50 minutes later. The train achieved a top speed of 143 kilometers per hour, setting a new record for railway speed in Bangladesh.
